Here I am, a transplant from Australia, wondering why on such an important day as Thanksgiving (must be important because it’s a holiday), people just seem to want to rush through it and get on to Christmas.  O.K. I’m Australian and not politically correct.  Who came up with not wanting to call “Christmas”, … Christmas?  I am highly offended.

Getting back to Thanksgiving.  Apart from the fact that the stores don’t make much money on it, is that the only reason why we seem to rush through it?  There is more publicity about Halloween leading up to the day and that isn’t a holiday.

Maybe Thanksgiving is really about being content with what you have ……… hmmm

Anyway, I like Thanksgiving.  We obviously don’t celebrate it “Down Under”.  If you have to ask why, look at your history books  ………

Let’s not rush through it, perhaps we need “Thanksgiving” to get into the Christmas Spirit.  Now there’s a thought.   Enjoy your day and be thankful!
